Wonka (2023) Movie Review *Spoliers*
December 14, 2023 I saw the 2023 Wonka movie and it was good. The movie is about Wonka and his origins before he started his chocolate factory. I wish the movie focused more on the creation of his chocolate factory and his competitors than the friends he has made along the way. The friends he made could have been incorporated in a different way and still have focused on the creation of his factory and his competitors. They could have resolved their debts quickly and focused on each friends talent to help defeat slugworth while creating the chocolate factory in the process. It felt long but also fun. The singing scenes were great. I loved the musical scenes where he had to sell his chocolate undercover and evade the cops. Those were some very fun and great scenes.
I loved the part where he finally gets to open his chocolate store. It felt great to see that happen. I wish they spent a bit more time showing Wonka and his employees working chocolate store. Maybe add one more day of working in the store before things went south. How they included the oompa loompa in the story was alright, All though every time he showed up, he was pretty funny and things got interesting. The ending was alright. Wonka and the major characters debts where paid off and they took care of slugworth. Noodle got reunited with her mother and The future chocolate factory started materializing marking the end of the movie. I wish we could have gotten to see what his factory was like up and running after the factory was magically built and oompa loompas migrating to the factory. There is so much this movie could have done to include the various ideas and lore in the earlier wonka films. I hope Warner Bros continues to make more Wonka films. This film has the spirit and fun of Wonka while missing parts of the earlier Wonka films.
I wish they would have brought back the Wonka Bar to stores even if it was just for promotional merch. I’m sure it would have been loved by the Wonka fans and more people would have gone to see the movie. They should have released an ad for the Wonka movie on their candy. That would have been good advertising.
